How does designing from the inside out create the most fitting architecture?
Diederik Fokkema explains about the focus during creating architecture projects: ‘’When it comes to designing, we at Fokkema & Partners have a slightly unorthodox approach” elaborates Diederik Fokkema in our latest Fokmagazine. “While considerations such as urban fabric, façade plasticity, proportions, rhythm, and sustainability are important, they should never overshadow the needs and desires of the individuals who will be occupying the space. Therefore the focus has always been on creating the best work environments for the people who will be using the building from the inside outwards. ‘From the inside’ reflects our drive to understand an organisation’s strategy and work processes, but also manifests our passion for designing – when possible – both the interior, as well as the exterior, whilst creating the strongest bond between the two.’’
Upfield embodies our sustainability ambitions, from facade to furniture, a seamless merge between interior and exterior.
As architects, our ultimate goal is to create a safe and healthy environment where people feel comfortable and can interact socially. We take the time to understand the needs of our clients, as well as the team goals and the mission of the organisation, in order to design a space that truly meets those needs.
We believe that every project is unique, but one thing that remains constant is our commitment to implementing strong spatial concepts. We strive to create a sequence of open spaces that foster social connections and allow an organization's culture to thrive. Our designs always go beyond the boundaries of the façade, integrating nature and fresh air, and creating a natural transition that makes people feel at home. We design from the inside outwards.
Ultimately, our goal is to connect people through meaningful spaces. Spaces that inspire, provide comfort, have a sense of humour, and add positivity to our lives. We believe that design can truly make a difference in people's lives, and that's why we always put people first.
