Architectural internship: Four students building their future in Architecture

This September, four students took their exploration of architecture to the next level. Over the past months, they gained firsthand experience of what it’s like to work in a professional architectural environment. The internship offered them the opportunity to engage in all features of design, including various phases of projects, diverse assignments, and collaboration with different teams.

As they reflect, what lessons and experiences will they carry forward from this period?

Willemijn Jansen: ''I absolutely loved my internship here at Fokkema & Partners! I felt welcomed from the start and truly part of the team. I learned so much in areas like teamwork, the design process, and collaborating with clients and suppliers. It was an enriching opportunity that has contributed greatly to my growth!”

Willemijn Vermeulen :"During my internship, I discovered how collaboration and communication are at the heart of architectural practice. Being part of a team that shared their passion and knowledge openly, and was willing to involve me in every stage of the process, helped me develop a deeper understanding of the field. I was encouraged to contribute ideas, which made me feel valued and part of the team."

Storm Kastelein: '' Not only did I learn during my internship at Fokkema-partners about technical aspects of architecture but also about collaboration, being part of a team, and working in an office environment. These skills aren’t taught in school which makes this experience even more valuable. ''

Floor Mol : ''What I enjoyed most about my internship was being surrounded by people who are deeply passionate about architecture and eager to share their extensive knowledge and experience. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and I found myself inspired while also learning a great deal.''

Thank you for your dedicated efforts over the past period, on behalf of team Fokkema & Partners Architecten!
